Who doesn’t love a classic love story? It’s a common theme in ancient and modern literature, big screen blockbusters, prime-time sitcoms and most importantly, in real life. Every weekend, my team and I capture those real life love stories with our cameras and professional equipment. I suppose you could call us storytellers. Whether most realize it or not, wedding photographs are an additional detail of a greater love story. In a single snapshot, there’s a slight, stationary glimpse of a couple’s life together. As the viewer, we not only admire their small dimples when they smile or eye twinkles when they cry; we also see an authentic love between two exceptional people.

Last Saturday, we had the honor of documenting the wedding of yet another beautiful couple. Sherriel and Joseph tied the knot at the Romanesque Revival-style Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta. What made this particular wedding day so special was the couple’s history. Sherriel and Joseph, both from Atlanta, had started dating in high school. After graduation, they had continued dating while in college and through out graduate school. They had even attended the same church. Everyone we came into contact with Saturday couldn’t say enough wonderful things about Sherriel and Joseph, how they were destined to be together and it were only a matter of time before their big day.

The wedding party got ready at the luxurious Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. The gorgeous bride-to-be and her bridesmaids sipped champagne and laughed over numerous memories. And then, it was off to the church for the ceremony. With Sherriel’s sister by her side and Joseph’s cousin by his, the high school sweethearts exchanged vows and were pronounced husband and wife.

The revelries continued at the famous SweetWater Brewery with appetizers and cocktails, a seated dinner and lots of dancing—some of the best I’ve seen in a long time. While guests mingled downstairs, we snuck up to the rooftop for some incredible post-ceremony pictures. It was a joy to document so many candid memories between the bride and groom and their wedding party. And of course, we had to include SweetWater’s well-known craft beer. Throughout the reception, there were multiple heartfelt toasts and special dances between family members—Joseph and his mother danced to Adele’s “To Make You Feel My Love”. The newly’s reception also included a delicious doughnut and coffee bar, tin mint wedding favors and a magical sparkler send-off.

What a wonderful way to end a busy, wedding-filled September.
