Why We Do What We Do - A Letter To Our Wonderful Couples And The People We Work With

As all of you know, this has been one wild, roller coaster of a year for weddings. There have been many heartaches over canceled weddings, but there have also been great celebrations during this period, thanks to the option of micro weddings and elopements.

I think I speak for the many vendors I work with when I say we did not get into the business of weddings because it was easy. We got into this because we loved being a small part of a very important day in people’s lives. I have done hundreds of weddings with the wonderful Sarah and Tara, so they can confirm that I still cry at weddings! I truly believe in love and that when you find that special person, it should be celebrated and shared with your family and friends. When two people come together, they become all the richer for it.

This year has been tough on some couples that wanted to celebrate their weddings. I have felt their pain, but I know that, in the long run, things will be okay. The greatest thing in a wedding is the fact that the couple found each other in this big world of millions of people! Together, they will go through many tough times, which is a part of life. The most important thing is that they have a partner in life to be there with them through the hard times, and to celebrate with them in the good times. Rescheduling or changing your wedding plans can be daunting, and the fact that the celebration may not be how you imagine can be disheartening. The most important thing to remember is that you have a person who loves you and the two of you are starting an exciting new chapter in life.

Now more than ever, we should also show support for our fellow vendors in the wedding business, as well as our wonderful couples. I have seen uncertainty in a lot of the wonderful vendors that I work with. I have heard stories of venues that are having a hard time paying bills and caterers that are afraid to put their employees at risk of contracting Covid-19. I have even seen vendors shamed for helping couples celebrate in a small, safe gathering of friends and family.

The situation we are in is absolutely unprecedented, but I know that at the end of the day, this will pass. We will get through this and come out stronger, with more conviction. As I said before, wedding vendors are not in this business because it is easy. We do it because we believe in love! So please don’t get discouraged during this difficult time. Instead, let it strengthen your resolve and renew your belief in love!

Thanks so much for reading!
