The Atlanta wedding photographers at Atlanta Artistic Weddings want to celebrate National Spouses Day coming up next week on January 26. The bond between spouses and the commitment you make to one another is something that is incredibly special and we are so lucky to get to witness this in our line of work! This day is incredibly important and provides an opportunity for you and your spouse to express your love and show your commitment to one another. In case you are unfamiliar with this day, let me tell you a little more about it.

National Spouses Day has been celebrated since the mid-1980s and likely stems from Military Spouses Day, which is usually celebrated in May. This day is set aside to recognize the commitment and love that is present when two people become spouses. Of course, partnership and love can come in all forms, so even if you’re not legally married, this day still pertains to you if you’re in any sort of long-term, committed relationship. The most important thing on this day is to remind your partner how much you love them and appreciate all they do. It’s about that special bond you have and remembering why you chose to be together in the first place.

While you could get your spouse a gift, there are plenty more meaningful and heartfelt things you can do to show your love and appreciation on this day. Life can move pretty fast and we can all get caught up in it from time to time. That being said, one of the most important things you can do is to make a point to spend time with your spouse on this day. Have a date night, go to dinner, or do an activity you both enjoy. Just make it a point to be together and be in the moment and that will mean more than any gift.

Another way to show your appreciation for your spouse is through nice, simple gestures, such as completing a chore your partner hates or cooking their favorite dinner. These little things can help your spouse feel seen and appreciated. These gestures may seem small, but they can really mean a lot. However you celebrate this occasion, make sure it comes from the heart and is all about you and your spouse!
