Scattered, Smothered, and Covered With Love at Waffle House!

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I have the honor of shooting a lot of engagement sessions at many unique places around the area. I have shot Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market, the Beltline and many other amazing Atlanta landmarks. This week I got to shoot at one of my favorite Atlanta landmarks: the Waffle House! It is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta and the very first Waffle House was located in Avondale Estates.

I got an email a few months ago from a couple who recently got engaged. They live in New York, but were coming to Atlanta to attend a wedding and wanted to do their engagement session while they were here. They had one request: they wanted to do the session where they had their first date: the Waffle House! When I heard this, I was so excited! I knew it was gonna be a blast!

This past Saturday was the big day of the shoot. I got up at 4am that day, like I usually do for morning shoots and walked my dog, Maggie. I saw some deer on the walk, which I always take as a good omen! When I got downtown to the Waffle House on Northside Drive, it was completely empty except for one employee who said they were closed. I was in in disbelief, because everyone knows a Waffle House only closes during hurricanes! When the couple arrived, they showed the employee the emails and communication they had with corporate where they gave us permission to shoot there. After some more communication and double checking on his end he graciously let us in. It was so cool to be the only people in the Waffle House! It was like it was our own private restaurant! We took a few photos at the counter and had a fun time there! Then it happened to be the blue hour right before the sunrise, so we went outside and took the photo you see at the top.

I want to thank Mike and Kim for the honor of being their photographer. It was such a unique experience I will never forget! I also want to thank Waffle House for being so generous for letting us use their restaurant. It was a wonderful morning shooting with a wonderful couple!
