There are certain times when I look at a photo and I am reminded of how lucky I am to be a photographer and that I get to meet so many amazing people in my line of work. When I do engagement photos, I get to know a lot about the couple. I prod them with questions, like how did you meet and how long have you known each other? The one I really like to ask is when did you know you were in love? It is so cool how couples can really open up when you ask them a few questions. You learn about their family, friends and life events that have made them who they are. That is why I love meeting couples and being an Atlanta wedding photographer.
This week’s couple, Shelby and Chris, were so lovely! I was supposed to photograph their wedding proposal, but due to scheduling conflicts I couldn’t do it. After the engagement, Shelby reached out to me about shooting a few photos at Piedmont Park. On the day of the shoot I was running late and they could not have been more gracious. We started to walk around the park and I got to know this couple. The more time I spent with them the more I saw the kindness in their soul.
They met at Virginia Tech, where they fell in love and started dating. They dove into life together and ended up in Atlanta, where they fell more and more in love with each other. I could tell how much Chris cared for Shelby by how much he fawned over her. While we were walking around the park he was so thoughtful and considerate of her well being. When I was editing the photos, my wife saw them and said “You can really tell they are in love!” What a great gift, to fall more in love with someone as you get to know them better.
I always say it is an honor to be your photographer and I mean it. I get to document all these important moments in peoples lives. Hopefully they look at the photos and it will take them back to a place and a memory that was a blessing in their lives, whether it’s the time they got married to their best friend or the time they walked around the park and were reminded of how fresh and lovely life is.
