One of the biggest changes that occurred this past year is that masks have become mandatory for everyone. Since then, people have found many creative ways to own their masks and have fun with them. Some couples had personalized masks made specially for their wedding day, with material to match the bride’s dress for the bride or a bowtie symbol embroidered on it for the groom. You can also give personalized masks to your wedding party as well, so that they can all match. Another smart idea is to pass out masks to your guests that match your wedding theme or colors. This can ensure guests are masked-up for everyone’s safety, while keeping on-theme with the ceremony. You can really show your personality and style here, which is so important or your big day!

Couples have also found ways to incorporate protocols into the way their wedding runs to keep their guests safe. For instance, instead of one cake for desert passed around for everybody, couples have favored more individualized food and serving options, such as cupcakes and pudding, to keep the spread of germs to a minimum. You can also switch out a reception, where food is passed around, for a cocktail hour or visit, where everyone gets individual drinks. These drinks and food options can also have special names based on the theme of your wedding, to make them more festive and add a little personality! Another detail we’ve seen is hand sanitizing stations placed before guests enter common space, such as the rooms where the ceremony and the reception will be held.

Party favors are also a fun tradition at weddings and this hasn’t changed since the pandemic. You can give your guests many cute, but practical favors they’ll want to use over and over again after the wedding. You can also include a pair of personalized and themed gloves for guests to wear to make touching communal surfaces safer. This is another area where you can really make the design fun and show your own style. Plus, they can match the masks you may give out as well. To avoid drinking from another person’s glass during the reception, some couples give their guests wine glasses with a chalk surface where they can write their names, which guests can then take home and use in their everyday life. Another option is to give out little bottles of hand sanitizer with a personalized label to mark the occasion.

We may be in the middle of a crazy time, but that doesn’t mean your wedding should be any less special. You deserve to celebrate your love in style and you don’t have to compromise the safety of others to do so. These are just a few of the ways you can have a safe and responsible gathering with loved ones that is still elegant and reflects your own style.
