The Wedding Season: A Year In The Life Of A Wedding Photographer

Even though weddings happen all year round, there’s usually a clear period of time where there’s a higher volume of weddings than usual. It’s called “The Wedding Season” which I’m sure is a term we’ve all heard before. Naturally there are also times that are slower with less bookings, known as the "off-season”. These periods of time may look slightly different for some, but let’s walk through a typical year for our Atlanta wedding photographers at Atlanta Artistic Weddings.

The beginning of the year, especially around Valentine’s Day, is “Engagement Season”. Many people feel like it is a time of rebirth and new beginnings, and so there are a lot of proposals. We don't often shoot proposals, but when we do it’s always so special to be part of the experience!

April-June

The nice weather makes this the ideal time for engagement sessions! The weather is nice and it’s bright and colorful outside. Plus it’s not too hot or too cold, meaning you have more outfit choices for your photos and it is easier to be outside for a whole photo session without sweating or freezing.

July-September

This period of time is typically the “off-season”. There are less bookings so we take this time to reorient ourselves, catch up on editing and orders from the busy season and the holidays, and prepare for future bookings and the notorious “wedding season” that precedes it.

This is the period of time where we see the most weddings. All the big holidays fall around this time so people are already feeling festive, families are already making plans to gather, and most venues are already decorated. Plus, who doesn’t love the magic of a winter wedding!
