Let The Music Play: How To Make A Surefire Setlist For Your Reception

It is a well-known fact that, while the wedding ceremony can be nice and beautiful, most people look forward to partying and celebrating at the reception afterwards! A big part of the reception is the music and dancing, so the pressure is on for your reception setlist to be on point. Here are some tips on how you can create a surefire playlist that will have everyone up and moving and having a great time!

Have A Diverse Playlist

Make sure your playlist has an equal amount of slow and fast songs in it. It’s also best to intertwine slow and fast songs, so that you avoid a long lull of slow songs or burnout from a lot of high-energy songs. In addition, make sure you add music from multiple genres and eras. For example, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and John Legends “All of You” are two entirely different, but equally good songs for your playlist.

Let Your Loved Ones Influence It

One way to be sure your guests will enjoy the reception music is to include them in it. You can share your playlist on your wedding website and ask your guests (or maybe just your bridal party so it’s less overwhelming) to add their favorite songs to it. You also can’t go wrong with including songs that make you think of loved ones. You can add your mom or dad’s favorite song or include that tune that you and your best friend belted out at high school sleepovers.

Have Fun With It!

Of course, the one surefire way to make a great playlist is to make it one that you love! As I always say, it’s your day and you should make sure you have a great time at your own wedding reception in addition to your guests. Put your favorite songs in there or songs that are meaningful to you and your partner. Your guests will have a good time just by watching you have a good time and knowing that you’re happy! They’ll know it’s something worth celebrating!
