This week’s couple are Conor and Rachel. They are getting married in next year at their church and reception at the Historic Trolly Barn. Rachel suggested doing a casual engagement shot at Cafe Intermezzo in Dunwoody and Conor is a fan of old school film so he wanted some shots with my old 35mm Pentax film camera.

Before the shot I cleaned up my film camera and went to Bellows Film Lab in Atlanta to get some of my favorite Kodak T-Max film. I was excite to shoot some film with my k-1000 pentax camera . I have shot with many 35mm film cameras through the years. The K-1000 is my favorite. It is a no frills work horse. Everything is mechanical on it, so it makes it very reliable. The only thing the battery powers is the light meter. It has been admired by photographers all over the world since it came out in the 1970’s.

We met on a Friday afternoon in front of the restaurant. It was a slightly over cast with a few moments of the sun shinning through the clouds. A slight breeze and the beginning of fall weather made for the perfect conditions for a photo session in Atlanta.

We quickly introduced our selves to each other and went to work. They were such a sweet and thoughtful couple full of positive energy. Rachel and Conor we so cute. They could not keep their eyes off of each other and we giggling having fun.

We started outside and walked around the shopping center and the little park in the middle of the stores. There was a colorful mural on the far wall that made a prefect backdrop and brought some color to the photos. We then went to the walkway got a few flirty walking shots. The whole time I was casually peppering the couple with photos trying to get to know them. They became more relaxed as the shot went on and that is when you get the best shots. While we had some good natural light we also took some photos with the film camera.

Conor the smart person he is made called ahead to Cafe Intermezzo to the manager to make sure we could shoot there before the restaurant opened. The when we went there to Cafe Intermezzo the manager greeted us and let us in. I can not say enough nice things about the staff there. Everyone was so gracious. We went around and took photos all over the place. Conor and Rachel had the run of the place. Once we were done there we took a few more photos outside. Rachel noticed the old phone booth outside the doors. We took a few fun photos there. Conor and Rachel playing for the camera.
