Atlanta Photographers Capture Marriage Proposal and Centennial Park

One of the wonderful things I get to do as an Atlanta wedding photographer is capture a wedding proposal.  I feel so honored to document the beginning of a couple's journey together.  You see the excitement and surprise in their eyes.

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Chris who wanted to propose to his girlfriend Tiffany.  He lives in Alabama and tells Tiffany he wants to go to Atlanta for a little get away.  While there he wanted to do a photo shoot with her before he went into the Marines.

We set up the date.  As the date got closer, we started to text more and more.  We started to make plans on how to pull this off.  I proposed we do the photos at Centennial Park since they would come into town late in the afternoon.  Also, at Centennial Park there is a Ferris wheel with lots of lights and looks great at night.

Saturday came and I brought Daphne, my wife, along, so that while I am shooting, she can capture video with my phone.  We met the couple around 5pm, which gave us about an hour of daylight.   We started at the main entrance to the park meeting at the olympic rings.  We started to walk around the park and talk.  Talking makes everyone a little more relaxed and your best photos come when you are relaxed.

They both wore black outfits with black jeans.  It reflected their personalities perfectly.  We took a few photos of where the fountains were and moseyed towards the sidewalk that wraps around the park.  We took a few photos there and headed towards the plaza where you have the Coke Museum, Georgia Aquarium, College Football Hall of Fame, and the Center for Civil and Human Rights. Once we took a few photos there, Tiffany went to the bathroom and changed into her second outfit.

While she was in the bathroom I made plans with Chris.  I told him we would work our way back towards the Ferris Wheel.  Once there I would line them up with the Ferris Wheel in the background.  I would tell them to pose back-to-back.  Once Tiffany had her back to Chris, that was his queue to turn around with the ring and propose.

Tiffany came back in her black goth dress.  It was a great outfit with lots of fun flowing movements. It made their poses a lot more playful and dynamic.  We started walking around towards the Ferris Wheel.  Stopping at different photo locations along the way.  When we got to the portion of the park with the Ferris Wheel I nodded towards Chris and said let us do a few photos here.  I winked at Chris and told them to pose back to back.  When they did, Chirs dug in his pocket, got down on one knee and waited for Tiffany to turn around.  I counted to three and she turned around and Chris asked her to marry him.  She said yes and the people around the park saw what happened and cheered them on.  They kissed and hugged each other. Savoring the moment that would change their lives forever.

We continued taking photos into the night until it was time to go home.  It was such an honor to part of such a special day.  Cheers to Tiffany and Chris!  May all your days be as blissful as Saturday!  You are off to a great start.
