Looking at Historical Venues around Atlanta

View Atlanta Wedding Locations in a larger map

I was recently asked what I like about doing weddings and I responded everything! I especially love doing weddings at historical locations around this great town Atlanta. I have worked with some great professionals. I have listed DJs, musicians, wedding planers and locations that I thought were great.

I have also made a map of some the great locations. It is a interactive map showing a photographs from the different locations and venues I have had to honor to work at. I have designed this map to help brides and grooms to find a convenient location wedding location around Atlanta. With this map they can easily look and estimate how long it might take a guest to get from certain church to a favorite venue

Some of my favorite locations are the historical venues. As some of you know I have been a full time photographer for different archeology and historic research firms around Atlanta for close to 20 years. I have learned truly appreciate some of the greatest historical sites in the state. My most recent find is the Brasselton Stover House.

You can see images of the facility at their web site at http://www.braseltonstoverhouse.com. It is located outside of Atlanta in the Braselton Historic District. There you will Mary and Marvin Stover. They are real down home people that will do their best to make your wedding a day to remember. They have recently added a addition to the back of the historic mansion. You can see some photography I shot there at my site www.atlantaartisticweddings.com There are so many interesting places to shot there from the front porch to the side yard with the historical barns. Also the facility has one of the best bridal rooms of any facility I have seen. It is a really under appreciated wedding facility at a great price!

Wedding Detail Shots

One of my first things I see after I soak in the beautiful dress I look at are what accessories she is wearing. She never just throws something on. There is always a story and forethought in everything she is wearing. I take love just sort of hanging back and taking these detail shots of necklaces, rings or ribbons. The bride loves to share the story of what she is wearing. Then all of a sudden she is letting you in to a very personal part of her life.

The real thing I like about the detail shots is they are sort of a abstract story of the wedding and the couple. At first glance you might see a flower, shoe and garter. But from the brides perspective it is the flower her dad brought her before the wedding. Shoes her mom wore on here wedding day and a garter her friends bought on a girls weekend out.

Don't over look the details they tell the story!

Don't Panic!!!

As a professional wedding photographer in Atlanta I have seen many things. From rain, late ministers, and wedding cakes that want to fall over. During all of these things one thing has remained constant. The bride and groom got married and everyone at the wedding was understanding and wanted to help in any way possible.

The good thing about a wedding is you are surrounded by people that love you and want to see you succeed. So don't panic when it rains people understand and know how to get out of the rain and not get wet. Also when you see something such as a leaning cake let some one know and they will be glad to help you!

At Atlanta Artistic Weddings I want to see you enjoy your wedding and I want to help you in any way that I can. You can call me at 404-578-6982 and I will be glad to help!

Meeting new Atlanta Brides

I love meeting new couples. It just warms my heart to see young love! I really like seeing the excitement they have about their future.

When I meet with the new couple I want to hear about their wedding plans. The other thing I like to know is how they met. This lets me know how I can help them and what kind of detail shots to look for when I am shooting their wedding.

If I shoot their wedding I ask them to introduce me to some one who knows old friends and important family members to me. Because I am a stranger to their wedding and I don't want to miss a important shot! That also helps the couple out so they can enjoy their time with their guests.

The one thing I give everyone even if they don't book with me is a short little check list. This simple little check list. It will help the new couple plan out the details and organize their time. I also suggest they visit the site I made to help Atlanta Brides at www.atlantaweddingphotographer.info. This site has a map of Atlanta wedding venues, list of wedding vendors, musicians and helpful tips for the Atlanta Bride.

As a experienced and professional wedding photographer I want to help in any way that I can. Please feel free to call me on my cell at 404-578-6982 and set up appointment with me. Or if you want you can email me at david@dienerphotography.com and I will send you the check list.

Beautiul wedding photogs - Lighting is everyting!

The word photography comes from the greek. Photo means light and graph means draw so photography means drawing with light. As a professional photographer in Atlanta I draw with light. When I am shooting a wedding or a bride I am constantly looking for light sources. I am also looking at where the best light is and how to use the light I make with my flash. Such as what can I bounce my light off of and what reflective surfaces are around me. I am love drawing with light every situation is different I have shot a wedding at Chastain Horse park in Atanta and I noticed the large windows in the ballroom. And I have to use this! I got the bride to pose in front of the window and adjusted my exposure to the bride and vola' a wonderful wedding photo.

The New Canon 5d mark II is the best camera ever!!!

As a Wedding photographer I have to have to be on top of the newest equipment out there. I was seeing the reviews for the new Canon 5d mark 2 as they came out. They just raved about how this is the camera of the future. It can shoot at the ISO's which means you don't always have to use your flash when you are in a low light situation. As a Atlanta bride this means you get more natural photos and you don't have to worry about flashes going off all around you. I have been using the 5d mark II on the last 7 weddings I have done. I have been impressed by the cameras fast focusing speed and at fast response under low light conditions. I have been so happy!! As you can see by the wedding ceremony photo on the left taken with candle light you could not have taken that photo on your old camera. You can tell my clients have been happy by looking at Atlanta bridal reviews of my wedding photography. Sure this is still just a camera and it takes some one to know how to work it. But I want the best equipment so I can take the best wedding photos.

How to pose for wedding photography

Let me say this first every bride I meet is beautiful and especially on there wedding day!!!! I just try to help them be comfortable in front of the camera. I know everyone of you brides out there have posed in front of the mirror. You should practice that a few times before the wedding to get some ideas of what looks best for you. You can try to pulling your legs and feet to one side to lengthen an narrow your lines. Also play around with hand placement with one on top of the other. Or any other ideas that you have in mind.

The one thing you should always do is loosen up! Have fun!!! and own that dress woman! This is your day have fun with the photos just relax. You can close your eyes between portraits and take a deep breath before opening them to just ease the anxiety. Try to treat the camera as your friend.

When doing the standing poses the correct posture will help your photos greatly. Once again play around int he mirror before hand and find your best side. Also think about how you are going to do your hair that day and how it is going to fall. Also be aware of where the groom will be standing during some the photos.

There are all kinds of body types out there. If you are a full figured person sometimes if is best if you practice posing in a sort of three quarter stance. You can create a elongate loo9k by thrusting your shoulders back and extending one foot out or crossing one over the other. Just Angle your hip toward the camera and this will allow for a narrower silhouette. Remember stand tall and be proud this is your day!

I my favorite shots are the candid. That is when we get to have fun! Don't worry you are beautiful and the more natural you are the more camera and world will know it!!!

Look for other great ideas at www.atlantaweddingphotographer.nfo.

One more thing to look for in your Wedding Photographer

There are so many wedding photographers in Atlanta how do you go through them all? There are a few things that you can do to simply weed through the majority of them. First you can see which ones have experience. It is simple this is a important day your wedding day don't trust someone who has never shot a wedding before. There are some many websites out there and so many look the same I have always tried to show as many photography examples along with my wedding photography to show the breadth of my work. Also ask for references. It sounds simple but look at the in the Atlanta wedding photographers on google local, or the local artistic wedding photographers on yahoo. Atlanta brides like to share the good news on photographers they love!

Remember also to check out www.atlantaweddingphotographer.info for help tips and links to Atlanta wedding vendors.

Thank you so much for checking out my blog. Even if you don't book with me I do hope it helps you and takes some of the stress out of planing your Atlanta wedding!

Shooting a wedding with Candle Light

Had a great time photographing a wedding at wonderful historic home in Duluth, Georgia. The bride had the romantic idea of using candle light for the ceremony (I do love a challenge). I have just up graded my equipent to the latest Canon 5d camera. The newest cameras these days are faster and smarter and allow you to shoot in lower lighting conditions when you crank up the ASA.

When shooting with this candle light from this wedding you can have some great shots. The lighting is very romantic and dramatic. You can see some examples of the wedding photography at www.atlantaartisticweddings.com. What a great wedding! I love it when brides really push the envelope. To see the shots from the is particular wedding just click here.

Keeping up to date on the latestest technology and trends

As a Atlanta wedding photographer I understand that it is a tough market out there and that I have to be on top of my game. One can not just sit around and live on there laurels. If they do they will be come yesterday's news. Last night I went to a seminar from a professional wedding photographer. His technique was awesome. It is so nice to get a fresh ideas from some one. I was so inspired by his dramatic lighting techniques. Because as we know the meaning of photography is drawing with light! I am looking forward to combining some new ideas to the up and coming weddings that are planned!

Research your Atlanta Wedding Photographer

As time goes by there are more and more wedding photographers. I am a professional wedding photographer with over 20 years experience. I have worked hard to please my many clients. Because at the end of the day that is all that counts. Your reputation is everything. I have been blessed by many wonderful clients who let me do what I love which is take wedding pictures. You can see review of Atlanta Artistic Weddings at Google maps. Take your time and research you wedding photographer it will be well worth it!

Google has cool free phone call gadget!

I just thought that I would throw this out there. Just another shout out for Google and it's free tools. I just signed up for Google voice (yep it is free). When you sign up for Google voice you get a free number that you can use to make phone calls on a computer and forward phone calls. You can see the Google designed widget at http://www.atlantaartisticweddings.com/ . It is very cool and free!

Getting the Right DJ - let's make some music!

During my time as a professional wedding photographer I have seen a lot of DJ's. They come in many different sizes and styles. The two things I always tell every couple that I meet and it has always held true. One deligate on your wedding day everyone around you wants to help and make it a great day. The second thing I say is it is your wedding. With that in mind think about what kind of DJ you want.

Think about what kind of music you would like to have at your wedding. There are certine DJ's that specialize in a ceretin kind music. You can get people who specialize in laid back Frank Sinatra or people who have air guitars and play 80's heavy metal. Like I said they come in many different varieties.

There are DJ's that get the crowd going and organize photos. I have recently worked with one of the best last weekend. He helped me organize some great wedding photography group shots and was genuinely wanted the couple to have a great time his name was Tod Peavy.

Can't Dampen Our Spirits!

I love my job!! I just shot a wedding at the Braselton Stover House. If you live in Georgia you know how much rain we have been having. It is just off the charts we have been having flooding through out the Atlanta area.

I just want to share that the wedding that I shot. This couple had the right attitude they were going to get married and the rain was not going to dampen their sprits! You can see the photos of this Atlanta wedding at Atlanta Artistic Weddings.

With some simple adjustments on the camera you can't even tell that it is pouring down rain in this photo.

Make a Rain Plan for your wedding

Today in Atlanta we are having a record amount of rain in short period of time. So I thought it would be a good time to talk about having a rain contention plan for your wedding. After working so many weddings I have seen my share ones effected by rain. The old saying "hope for the best but plan for the worst" is a a good saying because it is true. Most venues I have worked at have always have a back up plan. When working at the Flint house it started to rain and the professionals there turned a outside wedding into a beautiful inside wedding. I have also worked with other professionals such as the ones at the Braselton Stover House. Mary Stover has had many years of experience and a cool head under pressure. Her facility is very conducive all types of weather. As a professional Atlanta wedding photographer I have been trained to be supportive to the couple and to help in any way that I can.
