I had such a blast with this week’s couple Michelle and Zach.  They met through some mutual friends and hit it off.  Just as they started dating, Covid kicked in. They have been together for a while and weathered some storms together.

She contacted me a few weeks ago.  They are getting married in Colorado but wanted to have some engagement photos done here to send out with their save the dates.  I was honored.

We started early in the morning at sunrise at one of my favorite venues in Atlanta, Naylor Hall.  Naylor Hall is one of the crown jewels of the historic Roswell district.  It has a long driveway up to the stately porch with large columns.  It is a perfect spot to greet your guests or to have your ceremony.

One of my favorite shots now is the champagne photo, where I get the couple celebrating with a bottle of champagne.  In the morning the sun is behind Naylor Hall so the porch is a little dim. This was perfect for adding some flashes behind the couple.  I positioned Michelle behind Zach with her foot blocking the flash. Zach opened the bottle and started to shake so that the champagne started to spray.  The flash was going off behind them and illuminating the spray for a dramatic moment of celebration!

One of the great things about starting so early is that there is no one around and the streetlights are still on.  I suggested that we take a few photos in the middle of Canton Street.  The street is usually busy but early on Sunday morning the street was deserted.  It was a lot of fun walking around with the streetlights giving a very romantic look in the background.  We did a few dipping photos, walking poses and even some kissing poses.  Michelle was awesome; she had such great confidence.  They walked around like they owned Roswell and the streets were empty just for them.

We did a few more photos in front of Naylor and walked to the end of the street.  As the sun came up we took a few more photos in front of Naylor while the sun back lit the couple.

Thank you Michelle and Zach for making this photo shoot so much fun!  It was so worth it to get there early.
