Atlanta Wedding Photographers Helps Couples Captures Marriage Proposals in and around the City with Tips and Ideas

As an Atlanta wedding photographer at AtlantaAtisticWeddings I get lots of requests for proposals.  As a matter of fact I got one this week.   I wanted to shoot it but I was going to be out of town so I contacted Tara, my second photographer to see if she was available to do the shoot. When it comes to marriage proposals and engagement photos a professional photographer from Atlanta Artistic Weddings can always help you out!

Speaking of helping out, we would like to share a few tips on how  to make your marriage proposal photographs the best they can be.  With our years of professional photography experience we know many ways to make your photoshoot stress free.

The number one thing is planning.  If you want your proposal/engagement to be photographed please coordinate with your photographer. That way the photographer can be discreet and not ruin your moment.  A good photographer knows how to capture the moment and not take away from your marriage proposal.

Also, pick a location that reflects your personality.  Be sure to scout out the location beforehand to make sure it fits what you need.  There are so many wonderful locations in the Atlanta area.  I have done several at Piedmont Park.  There are several beautiful city skyline views that you can shoot from depending on what you want.  If you want to get on top of a building you have a couple of options.  I have shot at Ventanas and the Ponce City Market Roof.  Both of these locations are beautiful but you need to make reservations and pay a fee.

If you are an outdoorsy couple there are some great locations inside and outside the Atlanta perimeter.  Inside the perimeter there are over 100 parks in varying size and profiles.  There are also several small parks in the neighborhoods downtown where you won’t attract attention.  Outside the perimeter you have beautiful rivers, streams and even mountains north of the city.

The bottom line is that the professional wedding photographers at AtlatnaArtisticWeddings are here to help you in any way we can.  We are honored to capture your special moment with photographs that you can share and cherish forever.

Covid Delayed Wedding Finally Happens!

I have talked to other Atlanta wedding photographers and people in the wedding business. During the Covid lockdown a lot of things changed and had to be rescheduled because of it. This week’s wedding is over 2 years in the making. They were planning on a small wedding with just friends and family right when Covid started. A half a year later the bride's father and mother got Covid and was hospitalized. Then the groom’s mom got sick and passed away. To say that it has been a rough couple of years would be an understatement. I will say though that they are closer and more mature than most couples i’ve seen because of all they have endured.

I was so looking forward to this wedding! It was a morning wedding and I arrived at Primrose Cottage about a half an hour early. Since I have not shot there in a while nor Have I ever shot there in the morning I wanted to scope things out. I was looking for good places with optimal lighting. While walking around I got to meet Leah Spain, the wedding director for the day. I was so lucky to run into her. I always say when you are an Atlanta wedding photographer you are on a wedding team. Leah was truly a team player who knew how to communicate, and handle everything with grace. As you may know things do not always go as planned at weddings and Leah knew how to monitor and adjust like a real pro!

Marianna the bride arrived at Primrose with her mom and 3 sisters first. They unloaded everything and went upstairs to the beautiful and spacious bridal room that Primrose has. I took some detail shots of the dress before she put it on. While she was getting dressed I borrowed the rings for a detail shot of those. Throughout the house they had these bottles of wine for people to sign. They got the wine from a vineyard that they went to on their favorite date, so I thought it would be appropriate to have the rings with their favorite wine that only gets better with age.

While she was getting ready I went to do a few shots with the guys. While there I got to see Logan the groom hand out his gifts to the guys. Since Logan is in the Air Force he handed out their gifts in customized ammo boxes with their names on them. In the box were handkerchiefs, shot glasses, and everything a good groomsman would need. It was a very unique and thoughtful gift.

After everyone was dressed we were ready for the first look. We went to the back of Primrose and did a first look with the bride and he dad then we did a first look with the groom. Since we had a few minutes once we finished the first look we went around and took a few photos. There are so many little nooks and crannies for photo opportunities. There are the columns in the front entrance, patio in the back with two cute arbors, a little nature area to the south side of the house, and the house itself which is stunning! We took a few photos out front and moved to the back when guests started to arrive.

The ceremony started at 11am and everyone lined up in the house. As they were lined up they had Laurel Katheryn playing the harp as the guests went to their seats. The ceremony was performed by a family friend and she did a great job. The groom walked down the aisle with a bouquet in honor of his mom. Marianna and Logan did their own vows. It was very sweet and heartfelt, filled with humor and love.

After the ceremony came the reception. There was the first dance that was very touching. Then came the father/daughter and mother/son dances. Finally there were the speeches from the best man and maid of honor. After all that there was a surprise performance from the bride's sisters that got everyone to their feet dancing! The sister’s came out and mimed Queen’s” Bohemian Rhapsody'' then morphed into a fun version “We are family”. Then as with all good things they must come to an end. There was supposed to be an exit with a classic car but due to some scheduling conflicts it was not supposed to be there until 5 hours later. However with Leah’s quick thinking we got one of the guests sports cars for the exit! It was a great ending to a beautiful wedding!

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Share Historic Places of Worship

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Share Historic Places of Worship

As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I get to shoot at some amazing locations. As some of you may know I am involved in historic preservation and I love historic venues. This week we are going to cover some of my favorite historic places of worship in Atlanta. I am also sharing a map of the historic churches, temples and synagogues in Atlanta. I hope you enjoy this little tour as much as I do.

The Temple, established in 1860 to serve the needs of the German-Jewish immigrants, is the only non-Christian historic house of worship in Midtown. The neoclassical Temple was designed by noted Atlanta classicist Philip Trammell Shutze in 1931. While dramatically scaled back from the pre-Depression plans, the sanctuary takes cues from Venetian churches Shutze saw while studying in Rome. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, The Temple was a center for civil rights advocacy. Its civil rights role was one of the central themes in the movie Driving Miss Daisy.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture An Avondale Love Story

Photography by the Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings

This week’s wedding is Rachel and Aaron.  Two people who found love in the theater department in college.  They are a sweet couple who had their wedding at two historic locations in Avondale and Decatur.

It is always a good idea to have two Atlanta wedding photographers on your wedding day especially if you have two getting ready locations.   You also get more coverage that way and you can get some nice lighting effects.  Check the exit shot at the end of this blog. Sarah started with Rachel and I started with Aaron.

I started with the guys at Aarons place in Avondale estates. There were a couple of old college buddies and theater friends there who seemed like really sweet and thoughtful guys.   After they got dressed  they went to the kitchen where the groom's gifts were.  Aaron passed out the gifts and inside the gift bag was one of the coolest and most thoughtful gifts that I have seen in a long time.  Aaron made these wooden cabinets for bluetooth speakers.  They were beautifully made and each one was made of different kinds of wood.

After the guys got ready we went to the historic Avondale Clubhouse. There we finished up the ladies' photos and got ready for the first look.  We tucked Rachel away in the clubhouse before Aaron arrived.   We then set up Aaron outside facing away from the clubhouse towards the pond.  Then it was Rachel’s cue to come outside and tap Aaron on the shoulder which was Aaron’s cue to turn around.  When he did turn around it was an emotional moment for sure.  We took a few photos and gave them a moment to themselves.

After the first look we went to the historic  Decatur First United Methodist Church, which was first founded in 1823.  The wedding took place in the sanctuary built in 1922.  It is a beautiful sanctuary with plenty of room for our intimate wedding party.  Guests started arriving and were escorted by the groomsmen.  When the wedding started we had some of the cutest flower girls coming down the aisle. The bride entered last escorted by her father.  It was a touching ceremony with a splattering of humor thrown in from the minister. After the wedding it was reception time!

The reception was held at the Avondale Clubhouse.  There we took a few more photos outside around the pond and bridge on the property.  We even snuck out at the blue hour and did some more photos then.  It was a lot of fun!  After the cake cutting and the dancing there was a sparkler exit.  The couple drove away in a brand new Corvette!  It was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

Engagement Photos at the Scenic Piedmont Park Atlanta

We met at the entrance to the park by the Magnolia Room, a small wedding venue in Piedmont park. We started to walk around to the soccer field past the tennis courts. As we walked I got to learn more about their big Greek wedding! It is going to be held at The Annunciation Cathedral, a Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where the Atlanta Greek festival is held every year. They are such a sweet couple who are really thoughtful and caring. I even got to know how Nathan proposed to Evangeline and their little covid love story!

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Shoot at Little Gardens

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Shoot at Little Gardens

This week’s couple is Kristin and Daniel. I met them through my church. They approached me after service one Sunday and said that they were looking for a Atlanta wedding photographer for their wedding at Little Gardens. I was excited to say yes Little Gardens is less than a mile from my house!

Little Gardens is a hidden gem in the Lawrenceville area. It is a colonial-style venue nestled in the midst of a 7-acre estate. It has an outdoor ceremony area with a picturesque waterfall and koi fish pond. There is also a large bridal suite with overstuffed sofas and a floor-to-ceiling mirror to die for as well as a large ballroom and wrap-around bar in the reception area.

It was a weekday wedding so I left work and went straight there. The bride and bridesmaids happened to arrive at the same time that I did. As they went into the bridal room I brought out the wedding dress for a few detail shots. Also while the girls were getting ready the groom arrived with his groomsmen. We kept the groups separated until the ceremony.

Historic Naylor Hall Is A Great Venue For Weddings!

Historic Naylor Hall Is A Great Venue For Weddings!

This week’s weddings took place at my favorite venue, Naylor Hall. I love Naylor Hall for many reasons. One it is one of the most beautiful venues around Atlanta. It has a certain southern charm but also grandeur. The favorite thing about Naylor Hall is the people who work there. They could not be more gracious and welcoming to their guests.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers And The Celebration Of Life!

Atlanta Wedding Photographers And The Celebration Of Life!

As an Atlanta wedding photographer, once in a while you’ll get to capture something that is more than a wedding. This was absolutely one of those weddings. It was a day full of emotion and love.

I was contacted by a friend of mine who wanted me to shoot a friend’s wedding, but I was told we’d have to do it soon because the bride, Alice, was battling cancer and was in intensive care. I told her we were 100 percent in and were going to help in any way that we could.

The Atlanta wedding photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings are embracing micro weddings, elopements, and drive thru-weddings. Sarah Falugo

More couples are choosing to wed in smaller size, intimate celebrations, known as elopements and an even newer term, microweddings. There is, however, a key difference between the two types of events. While both are fundamentally smaller in guest count (elopements are considered more secretive and of-the-moment, whereas microweddings are full-on nuptials with an intimate number of guests). We have been working with the historic wedding venues of Roswell and Atlanta to bring more affordable weddings that are also safe for guests.

Coronavirus and Your Wedding | Atlanta Wedding Photographers

As a Atlanta wedding photographer who writes a blog on everything related to weddings this is one subject that I would never thought I would be writing. The Coronavirus has already starting to effect the wedding industry. The Center of Disease Control (CDC) has came out with the recommendation that people should be avoid large groups of 50 or more people.
