Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Naylor Hall Wedding In Historic Roswell

Photography by the Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings

This week’s wedding takes place at my favorite venue in Atlanta, Naylor Hall.  Naylor is in the Roswell historic district, north of metro Atlanta.  The beauty of this venue is only matched by the incredible staff.

AC and Jeremy picked Naylor for their wedding venue.  They loved the location, the venue, and most of all Abbey.  Abbey is the manager of the venue and does a fabulous job.  She brings years of experience and has been mentored by one of the best in the business.

It was a gorgeous day. AC and Jeremy did not want a first look, so they arrived separately.  AC arrived first and went upstairs to the bridal room.   The bridal room at Naylor is the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of the wedding so the bride and bridesmaids can get ready uninterrupted.  There is a separate bathroom and plenty of mirrors and space for the wedding party.

When Jeremy arrived, he went upstairs to the groom’s room with his guys.  They got dressed and isolated themselves from the guests.

When the ladies were ready, I took them downstairs where they were greeted by the bride’s family.  Everyone was so excited to see her in her wedding dress for the first time.  It was a fanback or fishtail cut dress with a medium length train.  I am a fan of these dresses because they look great going down the aisle with the train and can easily be bustled for the reception.  This particular dress required one button to be bustled.

During the photos with the family the bridesmaids patiently waited.  Once done with the family, AC did a few photos with the bridesmaids and then went outside to the front of Naylor Hall for some fun casual shots with the ladies. They were so much fun and were offering support for AC throughout the shoot.  It was getting close to the wedding time, so I took them inside and took a few more photos with the guys.

The ceremony was held in front of Naylor Hall.  The weather cooperated and we had great weather, not too cold and not too hot.  The guests were seated facing the front porch where the minister stood.  The wedding party came out from the side of the venue and walked down the side entrance to the sidewalk.  They lined up behind the large tree in the yard so the guests could not see them. The bride’s grandmother went first then the parents.  The bridesmaids were escorted by the groomsmen and made a half circle around the steps of the porch.  AC’s dad came back and escorted her to the ceremony.  This was the first time Jeremy saw her in her dress.  He became a little emotional seeing her coming towards him.

It was a very short ceremony with prayers and exchanging of rings.  Once they were announced bride and groom the guests cheered and greeted them as husband and wife.  They even stopped during their exit from the ceremony for an extra married kiss.

We did a few photos with the guests and the rest of the family on the porch.  Once done I took the couple out to the front of the house to the sidewalk along Canton Street.  I have never done that before and now I ask myself why? They were a lot of fun and very casual.  I also took some photos of the couple in the hedges out front to break up the usual shots that I do.  It was a lot of fun and gave them some unique photos.

The reception was held in the ballroom where the wedding party was announced.  The couple came in last and went straight into the first dance as husband and wife.  There was the blessing, and they had a delicious dinner served by Naylor’s best caterer. Once dinner was done, they did the parents’ dances and then toasts.  Then it was party time! Hal the DJ cranked up the music and the guests got to the ballroom floor and started to cut a rug. Everyone had a great time. Then like always every party must end.  The guests went outside to line up for the exit.  While they did that AC and Jeremy stayed back and did a private dance with just them.  It was a nice private moment that they could share just between them after a busy wedding day.  Then they went outside where the guests cheered them on as husband and wife.  A perfect ending to a great wedding.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture International Wedding in the Georgia Mountains

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture International Wedding in the Georgia Mountains

This Atlanta wedding photographer has been looking forward to this couple’s wedding. I took Elizabeth and Ben’s engagement photos a few months back. Ben and Liz were so much fun! We took their photos all around downtown Atlanta. They wanted an urban vibe for their photos. They also brought Archie their dog to keep the photos fun. We talked about the wedding in the mountains and how they were having friends from all around the world coming to celebrate with them.

As a Atlanta Wedding Photographer at AtlantaArtisticWeddings every once in a while I get a request for a unique photoshoot.  About 3 months ago Samantha contacted me and said she wanted to do a wedding/star wars photoshoot.  She is having a small wedding at an air bnb with a few family and friends.  While they were there she wanted a few fun photos to share.

This week’s couple is Rachel and Chris.  My wife was talking to Rachel, her friend at work who was looking for a wedding photographer.  Rachel and Chris reached out to me and we started talking.  After they talked things over they gave me the honor of being their wedding photographer.  They mentioned that their wedding is going to be a 1920’s speakeasy themed wedding.  I was so excited to shoot a fun wedding with such a unique theme.

I met Rachel, Chris’s brother-in law and Chris’s sister, who is also the makeup artist, at the Trilith Town Center.  If you have not heard of Trilith it is located about an hour south of Atlanta near Fayetteville, Georgia.  Trilith is also a huge movie studio with some of the largest sound studios in the world.  The town is a live and work area with these great carefully curated boutique shops and chef-driven restaurants purposefully placed in a greenspace within one block of each home.  It is amazing that they have built this whole area in about 7 years.

This week’s couple is Mara and Chris.  They met online and started dating  right before the pandemic.  They got along great and felt very comfortable with each other.  They were lucky enough to find each other and put on no airs. They put on no airs, drank some beer and played video games they both love and hunkered down together.  The more time they spent together the more they felt they were meant for each other and finally one of them said I love you.  Which is a big word to throw out there and show what is in your heart.  The feeling was mutual and two people admitted they love each other.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Discover You Can Find Love At Anytime In Your Life

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I am always meeting so many wonderful people.  This week’s wedding is Judith and Art.  They met late in life and found love.  I am not going to say how old Judith is (that is something a gentleman does) but Art is 68 and is the older of the two.

This week’s couple is Liat and David. They are getting married in October.  They went to the same school growing up but didn't really know each other then.  As they got older and ran in the same circles they started dating.  After dating a while David proposed to her on his farm.

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I love to do engagement sessions.  It is my way to get to know the couple.  We chat and get to know each other.  I learn about their brothers and sisters,  Where they were born,  time they spent traveling and working in New York City. These life experiences shape who they are.  I also get to know how comfortable they are in front of the camera.  I saw how David loves the outdoors and neither one is afraid to get a little dirty.  They would laugh and just step into the creek to get the shot.  They easily climbed in the tall grass to get a great photo.

Brides depend on Google Review for Atlanta Wedding Photographers

Brides depend on Google Review for Atlanta Wedding Photographers

As one of the many Atlanta wedding photographers out there,  I think the reviews found on Google help brides and grooms make informed decisions.  Google reviews are a trusted source of information.  They are reviews written by clients that have had experiences with a company’s services.  As an Atlanta wedding photographer I love to hear feedback from clients.

When a person is hiring an Atlanta wedding photographer it is a new experience for them.  It is not like they hire a new wedding photographer every week.  So I think a good place to start is Google.  You can see how long the business has been open.  You can see how many positive reviews they have.

This week’s wedding is Ryan and Lindsay, a very sweet and laid back couple.  Lindsay’s family is from New York and Ryan is a local fella who grew up right down the road from me and he was born at the same hospital that my son was born and he also graduated from UGA like my son did.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Fun Bollywood Engagement Session

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I get all kinds of requests.  A few weeks ago Saainya and Faizan contacted me and wanted to do a pre wedding photo session.  I asked her what she meant by that and she said she wanted to do a Bollywood themed photoshoot at a train station then a food based shoot at a restaurant since they were foodies.

We contacted the Southern Railway Museum located south of Duluth and asked if it was ok to shoot there and they said yes as long as you are not bringing some big lights.  I decided it would be best to start in the morning on the square in downtown Duluth, since they have so many great restaurants and there are many photo locations within walking distance.

The Great Wide World Of Wedding Dresses!

The Great Wide World Of Wedding Dresses!

One of the best things about being an Atlanta wedding photographer are the many cultures we see throughout the city. This carries into the weddings, which often turn into cultural celebrations. All wedding details tell the story of the couple and where they came from. My favorite detail happens to be the wedding dress so this week, I wanted to take a walk through all of the wonderful cultural wedding attire from around the globe our photographers have seen over the years.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Captures Proposal At Ponce City Market

This week’s post is a very special one. I was contacted by Collin who was going to propose to his girl friend Taylor.  He wanted to surprise her and propose to her at Ponce City Market.  As an Atlanta wedding photographer it is such an honor to photograph special moments like this.

When you are setting up a surprise proposal there is a lot of planning but at the same time you have to be flexible in the moment.   We made time in the evening to plan the proposal.   He said he had a reservation for 7pm at 9 Mile Station.

The Next Stage Of Life For Atlanta Couple

The Next Stage Of Life For Atlanta Couple

A few years ago I had the honor of shooting Rachel and Alfred’s wedding at Callanwolde.  They were such a great couple and so thoughtful to each other.

Now fast forward to a couple of months ago and Rachel contacted me and let me know that she is pregnant! I was so excited for them.  I usually don’t do maternity photoshoots but if you were a couple of mine I would do it because it is so cool to see these couples in the next stage of their lives.  After chatting with Rachel we decided to move the date to about 1 month before she was due.

It is such an honor being an Atlanta wedding photographer and getting to document people's milestones throughout life.  This is the third maternity shoot of one of my couples and is always a treat.  I can’t wait until my next couple's maternity shoot!

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shoots at Night

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shoots at Night

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Master the Light

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I think the most rewarding and challenging wedding photography is shooting at night.  You have to be very aware of the ambient light and know how to bring light to a bride or couple.

Blue Hour = Dramatic Wedding Photographs

When I mentioned ambient light that means the existing light.  The existing light can be the light from the room, dj’s lights, or the night sky.  My favorite kind of night sky is the blue hour. It happens about 20 minutes after sunset.  You have to time it perfectly. When you have timed it just right you can have some dramatic results.  You can see that I do that often during my weddings.  You just set up the lights and tap the couple on the shoulder and they step outside for 3 minutes and they have a beautiful dramatic portrait.

Finding The Best Wedding Photographer For Your Big Day

Finding The Best Wedding Photographer For Your Big Day

To find a good wedding photographer you have to do some detective work.  You have many resources available to you.  You can look at reviews, ask your wedding venue, or simply Google them.

Reading reviews tell a story about the photographer.  They tell you about customer satisfaction and sometimes you get some insight into their personality.  At Atlanta Artistic Weddings we are proud of our reviews and our awesome couples.  It takes time to write a review and share your wedding experience.

We have been in business for over 15 years and if you look us up on Google  you can see over 80 positive reviews from our bride and grooms. Below are some quotes from our favorite bride and grooms.

This week’s wedding is Carly and Stewart. They are a true Ironman couple! The wedding was at my favorite venue Naylor Hall. It was a wedding to remember.

Naylor Hall is a beautiful venue that is in the heart of historic Roswell. It is a historic mansion with one of the largest front yards in Roswell. It makes a beautiful backdrop to any wedding. I am a big fan of Sunny the owner of Naylor Hall. She is an event professional with many years experience in planning and weddings. The manager Abbey is also a joy to work with! They, including their gracious staff, make a great team for any wedding or special event. It is an honor to work with so many wonderful people.
