This week’s photo session is an Atlanta wedding photography classic.  The couple’s wedding is in October and they wanted their engagement photos to have that Atlanta flavor by shooting at city landmarks that give that urban feel.  Liz and Ben are international travelers and appreciate the energy a city can bring.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Take Advantage of the Rain and the Beautiful Photo Opportunities It Brings

As a Atlanta wedding photographer at AtlantaArtisticWeddings I look forward to unique situations like rain. Please don’t let the rain dampen your photo session.  It is a great opportunity to make lemonade from lemons.  Rain can add a fun spontaneous element to your photography session!

When a couple is in the rain they have kicked their adventure level up a notch.  I know that they will have fun and that the magic will happen. The next time you see rain in the forecast don’t cancel your photo session but prepare to have a great time!

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Captures Engagement Photos At The Historic Callanwolde Arts Center

This week’s couple is Aaron and V.  They met a few years ago and there was an immediate connection.  The relationship grew along with their love for each other. They were together in Atlanta for four years and now because of Aaron's job they are in two different cities.  Aaron is in south Georgia and V is still in Atlanta and together they are  making it work!  They have such a wonderful partnership where they complement each other wonderfully.

They are getting ready to have their wedding in India and they wanted a few photos before the ceremony there.  They contacted me a few weeks ago.  When Aaron called me it was cold and rainy which is typical for this time of year.  I suggested an indoor location.  We agreed on Callanwolde Arts Center in Atlanta.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Day of Celebrating Love between two Special People

The last couple of months I have been behind on this Atlanta wedding photographer’s blog!  We have been very busy and we have had some memorable weddings.  This week’s blog is on Trent and Leandro’s wedding held south of Atlanta at Flat Creek Country Club.

Using Classic Black and White Photography to Capture a Wedding

Using Classic Black and White Photography to Capture a Wedding

This week’s blog is inspired by a brides mom.  She asked me if I could make a few black and white photos to match some of her early family photos.  So I converted the whole classic wedding to black and white and shared it with her.  While doing so it reminded me how much I love black and white photography

1920's speakeasy engagement session south of Atlanta

1920's speakeasy engagement session south of Atlanta

This week’s couple is Rachel and Chris.  My wife was talking to Rachel, her friend at work who was looking for a wedding photographer.  Rachel and Chris reached out to me and we started talking.  After they talked things over they gave me the honor of being their wedding photographer.  They mentioned that their wedding is going to be a 1920’s speakeasy themed wedding.  I was so excited to shoot a fun wedding with such a unique theme.

I met Rachel, Chris’s brother-in law and Chris’s sister, who is also the makeup artist, at the Trilith Town Center.  If you have not heard of Trilith it is located about an hour south of Atlanta near Fayetteville, Georgia.  Trilith is also a huge movie studio with some of the largest sound studios in the world.  The town is a live and work area with these great carefully curated boutique shops and chef-driven restaurants purposefully placed in a greenspace within one block of each home.  It is amazing that they have built this whole area in about 7 years.

This week’s couple is Mara and Chris.  They met online and started dating  right before the pandemic.  They got along great and felt very comfortable with each other.  They were lucky enough to find each other and put on no airs. They put on no airs, drank some beer and played video games they both love and hunkered down together.  The more time they spent together the more they felt they were meant for each other and finally one of them said I love you.  Which is a big word to throw out there and show what is in your heart.  The feeling was mutual and two people admitted they love each other.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture A Beautiful Skyline Ceremony

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture A Beautiful Skyline Ceremony

This week’s wedding is Kristen and BJ.  They are a younger couple who fell in love a few years ago.  They are such a sweet and thoughtful couple with some amazing friends and family!

The wedding took place at the Peachtree Club on Peachtree Street.  They have a large room for the bride off of the main dining area and a large sort of study for the groomsmen.  Both have great views of Atlanta.  They have a large dining room for your guests where they will be served great food by some of Atlanta’s top chefs and the staff is always wearing tuxedos.  Connecting to the dining room is the terrace.  It gives a spectacular view of the Atlanta skyline and beautiful sunsets.

When I arrived I started with the guys while Tara worked with the girls.  The guys got ready first so we did their shots on the Terrace. They were a fun bunch of guys!  After their photography was done they went back to their room.   They guys made toasts to the groom and the groom asked some of the guys to be the godfather to his child that are expecting this month.  It was a truly touching moment that made me a little weepy.  Just a lot of good vibes all around the room.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Discover You Can Find Love At Anytime In Your Life

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Discover You Can Find Love At Anytime In Your Life

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I am always meeting so many wonderful people.  This week’s wedding is Judith and Art.  They met late in life and found love.  I am not going to say how old Judith is (that is something a gentleman does) but Art is 68 and is the older of the two.

Engagement Session at New Park located North of Atlanta

Engagement Session at New Park located North of Atlanta

This week’s couple is Liat and David. They are getting married in October.  They went to the same school growing up but didn't really know each other then.  As they got older and ran in the same circles they started dating.  After dating a while David proposed to her on his farm.

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I love to do engagement sessions.  It is my way to get to know the couple.  We chat and get to know each other.  I learn about their brothers and sisters,  Where they were born,  time they spent traveling and working in New York City. These life experiences shape who they are.  I also get to know how comfortable they are in front of the camera.  I saw how David loves the outdoors and neither one is afraid to get a little dirty.  They would laugh and just step into the creek to get the shot.  They easily climbed in the tall grass to get a great photo.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers capture International Celebration of Love

Atlanta Wedding Photographers capture International Celebration of Love

As a Atlanta Wedding Photographer, this week’s wedding is one that hits close to home.  I have known the bride since she was 10 years old.  Her parents were in my small group at church, so I saw her grow up and graduate college.  Now she is a young woman who found a great guy and is getting married!

Megan and Jaylen met while they were going to Georgia State.  They have been together for about 4 years.  When Jaylen proposed to her she started planning her wedding.  One thing you need to know about Mergan is that she is a planner!  She contacted me about a year and a half ago.  I was so honored to be her Atlanta wedding photographer.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Shoot in the Historic Oakland Cemetery

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Shoot in the Historic Oakland Cemetery

This week’s couple is Laura and David.  They wanted to do an engagement shoot in their neighborhood.  Their home is located near the historic Oakland Cemetery.   It makes for a beautiful backdrop for photos.

Atlanta has a thriving wedding photography scene, with many talented and experienced photographers to choose from. Here are a few of the best artistic wedding photographers in Atlanta:

  • David Diener is a world-renowned, nationally published photojournalist photographer who has been photographing weddings since 2003. He has a natural, relaxed style that captures the beauty and emotion of the day.

Historic Roswell District an Atlanta Wedding Photographer's Dream

We agreed to meet at Barrington Hall in Roswell at 7:30am at sunrise.  They were real sports!  It started out very chilly and Sarah was wearing a beautiful white sundress that looked great on her but I know it was cold.  Evan and Sarah did not complain one bit!  As the shoot went on they started to appreciate the early morning  start time and the low light that comes when you start to shoot in the morning and get that early morning/sunrise light.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Captures Proposal At Ponce City Market

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Captures Proposal At Ponce City Market

This week’s post is a very special one. I was contacted by Collin who was going to propose to his girl friend Taylor.  He wanted to surprise her and propose to her at Ponce City Market.  As an Atlanta wedding photographer it is such an honor to photograph special moments like this.

When you are setting up a surprise proposal there is a lot of planning but at the same time you have to be flexible in the moment.   We made time in the evening to plan the proposal.   He said he had a reservation for 7pm at 9 Mile Station.

The Next Stage Of Life For Atlanta Couple

The Next Stage Of Life For Atlanta Couple

A few years ago I had the honor of shooting Rachel and Alfred’s wedding at Callanwolde.  They were such a great couple and so thoughtful to each other.

Now fast forward to a couple of months ago and Rachel contacted me and let me know that she is pregnant! I was so excited for them.  I usually don’t do maternity photoshoots but if you were a couple of mine I would do it because it is so cool to see these couples in the next stage of their lives.  After chatting with Rachel we decided to move the date to about 1 month before she was due.

It is such an honor being an Atlanta wedding photographer and getting to document people's milestones throughout life.  This is the third maternity shoot of one of my couples and is always a treat.  I can’t wait until my next couple's maternity shoot!

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shoots at Night

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shoots at Night

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Master the Light

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I think the most rewarding and challenging wedding photography is shooting at night.  You have to be very aware of the ambient light and know how to bring light to a bride or couple.

Blue Hour = Dramatic Wedding Photographs

When I mentioned ambient light that means the existing light.  The existing light can be the light from the room, dj’s lights, or the night sky.  My favorite kind of night sky is the blue hour. It happens about 20 minutes after sunset.  You have to time it perfectly. When you have timed it just right you can have some dramatic results.  You can see that I do that often during my weddings.  You just set up the lights and tap the couple on the shoulder and they step outside for 3 minutes and they have a beautiful dramatic portrait.

Payne-Corley House Is An Atlanta Wedding Photographer's Dream

Payne-Corley House Is An Atlanta Wedding Photographer's Dream

This week’s blog is on the Payne-Corley House.  As an Atlanta wedding photographer at atlantaartisticweddings it is one of my favorite places to shoot. It is located in the Duluth Historic District right across the street from the train tracks that go through downtown.

While all these physical upgrades make for a beautiful venue where Payne-Corley shines is in its staff and their event training.  Krista and Mike together have over 60 years of experience in event planning.  Their gracious staff make every guest feel at home and at ease.  They are quick and know how to think on their feet.  I particularly remember them accommodating a wedding on one of the rare occasions when it snowed in Duluth.
