Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Fall Wedding at Berry College

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Fall Wedding at Berry College

This week’s blog is Ellie and Andy.  Their wedding took place at Berry College in Rome, Georgia where Ellie went to school.  As an Atlanta wedding photographer I have never been to such a beautiful setting for a wedding.

Berry College is a small independent, coeducational college founded by Martha Berry in 1902 as the Boys Industrial School with the mission of providing education to poor children of the rural south.  The campus consists of thousands of acres of green space and large historic buildings with many that are registered on the National Register of Historic Places.  The buildings are large gothic inspired stone masterpieces, with large arches and carved details.  These impressive structures make for a perfect backdrop for weddings.  The campus has been the backdrop of many photoshoots and movies such as Stranger Things, Sweet Home Alabama and Remember the Titans.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture International Wedding in the Georgia Mountains

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture International Wedding in the Georgia Mountains

This Atlanta wedding photographer has been looking forward to this couple’s wedding. I took Elizabeth and Ben’s engagement photos a few months back. Ben and Liz were so much fun! We took their photos all around downtown Atlanta. They wanted an urban vibe for their photos. They also brought Archie their dog to keep the photos fun. We talked about the wedding in the mountains and how they were having friends from all around the world coming to celebrate with them.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Shoot Engagement Session in Piedmont Park

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Shoot Engagement Session in Piedmont Park

This week’s blog is about Jonathon and Cameron’s photo session at Piedmont Park.  It was a wonderful time for us to get to know each other and to learn more about their wedding in December.

If you know me, you know that I love starting early in the morning.  Jonathon and Cameron were early risers too. They were excited to see what Piedmont Park looks like in the morning and to also take advantage of the cool fall weather in the late September, Atlanta mornings. They arrived at 7:20 just before sunrise which was the perfect lighting for the champagne shot .going to do.  We quickly walked over to the Greystone Event Center,  Greystone is in the western part of the park next to Lake Clara Meer and the pool.  It is adorned with an arched entrance supported by large marble columns.  In the morning, this area is dark. We made our way there with our bottles of champagne.  I placed Jonathon and Cameron  in the middle of the columns with the flash behind them to back light them.  I gave the champagne to Jonathon and told Cameron to get behind him so she would not get wet when the burst of bubbly came out of the bottle.   Jonathon opened the bottle and put his thumb over the opening so the pressure would build and shook the bubbly just like the race car drivers after they win a race.  As he sprayed the champagne the flash was backlit them and made the sudsy spray sparkle.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shares Map of Atlanta's Best Wedding Venues

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shares Map of Atlanta's Best Wedding Venues

In downtown Atlanta there are a plethora of wonderful venues that make it so interesting for an Atlanta wedding photographer. They each have their own personality and are so much fun!

The first one that comes to mind is Ventanas which screams Atlanta! It has the best view of the skyline of Atlanta. They have a wraparound terrace where you can have your ceremony or cocktail hour for your guests. In the interior there are two stories of floor to ceiling windows that overlook Olympic Park, Mercedes Benz stadium, the Ferris Wheel, and Georgia Aquarium. The crown jewel of the venue is the helicopter landing pad on the roof. It gives you a 360 panoramic view of the city that is unobscured. As well as a dramatic backdrop to memorable wedding photos.

As a Atlanta Wedding Photographer I want to share a map of some historic wedding venues. North of Atlanta there is the historic downtown Roswell, where there are some of the best historic wedding venues in the United States. The main road going through town and most of the buildings have been untouched for over a hundred years.  It will take you back in time and give your wedding a touch of grandeur.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings Capture Love at Peachtree Club in the Heart of the City

This week’s wedding is Nat and Rita.  This couple and their friends and family were awesome.  As an Atlanta wedding photographer I know how hot it gets in Hotlanta!  Throughout the wedding I did not hear one person complain.  They were all great team players.

I met them before the wedding with Maggie the wedding planner at Peachtree Club. Nat and Rita were great at communicating and were very organized which helps the couple get what they want and helps the vendors with the direction.  They had allotted plenty of time for photos and travel between locations.  I also saw how detailed Maggie is and during the wedding was an awesome team leader!

The wedding day started for us at the Airbnb where the bride and bridesmaids were getting ready.  Tara got there first so she could help with the bride and bridesmaids.  Tara got some great shots of the rings, dress and details.  I arrived a little later. Once there I checked in with the bride and started scouting locations for the first look and group shots around the Aribnb.  When I was walking around Nat the groom arrived. We coordinated the first look along 14th street by Piedmont Park.  I got Nat in place and Tara brought Rita the bride down.  While I had Nat in place a few people started to gather, so when Rita tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around a small group cheered him on.  It was such a sweet moment and I even got a little teary.   After the first look we quickly moved on to the couple photos.  We took some along both sides of the sidewalk and then even did a fun shoot in the middle of 14th street!  It was like the traffic stood still for this couple and their special day. Once done with those we took the couple back inside where they could cool off and then waited on the rest of the bridal party.  When everyone was there we did a group shoot in the alley behind the Airbnb. Their bridal party was fun and giddy the whole time.  We then traveled to the wedding venue the Peachtree Club just up the road.

We parked at 999 Peachtree Street Center the home of the Peachtree Club.  Once there we met up with the rest of the family and started doing the rest of the group shoots.  We finished up quickly and went inside to the 28th floor to the Peachtree Club.  Maggie greeted us when we got there. Her team was busy setting up tables and chairs outside on the terrace.  The club's terrace is the primary feature of the venue.  It is a large open terrace at 28 floors up and is one of the best views of the city.  You are level with the top of some of Atlanta's landmark buildings.  We tucked the bridal party away as the guests arrived.

The guests arrived and were served water since it was rather warm outside.  They took their seats and enjoyed the view on all 3 sides of the terrace.  Once everyone was seated the wedding began. The bridal party came in first and arranged themselves up by the podium.  Once in place the flower girl came in.  She was maybe around 9 years old but she came in dancing and throwing the flower petals with the most enthusiasm I have ever seen in a flower girl.  Then Rita was escorted down by her proud father.  Her dress flowed behind her elegantly.  It was a sight to behold.  The ceremony was presided over by a friend of theirs who did a great job.  He had the right mixture of reverence and humor.  Rita and Nat wrote their own vows.  Rita had hers written out in a handmade book.  As she spoke I could see how much she loved Nat.  It was a deep love that grew over time and shared together.  Once done they kissed and it was official they were husband and wife!

After the wedding as the guests were enjoying cocktail hour the couple signed their wedding license.  Then the guests came back to the terrace where the bridal party was introduced and the couple came out and enjoyed their first dance as husband and wife.  Everyone looked on and saw how much they were in love.  Rita then danced with her father and then the guests went back inside to do the hora dance where the guests lifted up the bride and groom in chairs!  It is a fun tradition not to be missed!

The guests then moved to the dining area where they enjoyed dinner.  Then the toasts began as the dinner was wrapping up.  After the toasts it was time for dancing.  The guests went to the terrace to a stunning backdrop of the city where they danced until it was well after dark.  At the end of the evening everyone went to the bottom floor to the courtyard and cheered the couple on to a sparkler exit.  It was a beautiful ending to a special day.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Helps Couples Captures Marriage Proposals in and around the City with Tips and Ideas

As an Atlanta wedding photographer at AtlantaAtisticWeddings I get lots of requests for proposals.  As a matter of fact I got one this week.   I wanted to shoot it but I was going to be out of town so I contacted Tara, my second photographer to see if she was available to do the shoot. When it comes to marriage proposals and engagement photos a professional photographer from Atlanta Artistic Weddings can always help you out!

Speaking of helping out, we would like to share a few tips on how  to make your marriage proposal photographs the best they can be.  With our years of professional photography experience we know many ways to make your photoshoot stress free.

The number one thing is planning.  If you want your proposal/engagement to be photographed please coordinate with your photographer. That way the photographer can be discreet and not ruin your moment.  A good photographer knows how to capture the moment and not take away from your marriage proposal.

Also, pick a location that reflects your personality.  Be sure to scout out the location beforehand to make sure it fits what you need.  There are so many wonderful locations in the Atlanta area.  I have done several at Piedmont Park.  There are several beautiful city skyline views that you can shoot from depending on what you want.  If you want to get on top of a building you have a couple of options.  I have shot at Ventanas and the Ponce City Market Roof.  Both of these locations are beautiful but you need to make reservations and pay a fee.

If you are an outdoorsy couple there are some great locations inside and outside the Atlanta perimeter.  Inside the perimeter there are over 100 parks in varying size and profiles.  There are also several small parks in the neighborhoods downtown where you won’t attract attention.  Outside the perimeter you have beautiful rivers, streams and even mountains north of the city.

The bottom line is that the professional wedding photographers at AtlatnaArtisticWeddings are here to help you in any way we can.  We are honored to capture your special moment with photographs that you can share and cherish forever.
