Engagement Shoot at the Historic Naylor Hall in Roswell Georgia by the Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisitcWeddings

This week’s photo session is at my favorite venue, Naylor Hall.  It was a combination engagement, educational, and promotional session.  Over the years I have become friends with the staff there.  Two of my treasured friends are Cameron and Abbey.  Cameron is working on his video portfolio.  He came up with the idea of shooting his sister Sammie and her fiancé John's engagement session at Naylor Hall.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shoots at Night

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shoots at Night

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Master the Light

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I think the most rewarding and challenging wedding photography is shooting at night.  You have to be very aware of the ambient light and know how to bring light to a bride or couple.

Blue Hour = Dramatic Wedding Photographs

When I mentioned ambient light that means the existing light.  The existing light can be the light from the room, dj’s lights, or the night sky.  My favorite kind of night sky is the blue hour. It happens about 20 minutes after sunset.  You have to time it perfectly. When you have timed it just right you can have some dramatic results.  You can see that I do that often during my weddings.  You just set up the lights and tap the couple on the shoulder and they step outside for 3 minutes and they have a beautiful dramatic portrait.

The Complementary Color Wheel of Talent at Atlanta Artistic Weddings

The Complementary Color Wheel of Talent at Atlanta Artistic Weddings

I am so lucky to be a part of such a talented team. As some of you know I started out in the art field, thus the name Atlanta Artistic Weddings. When you start out in art one of the first things they teach you is the color wheel. If you don’t know what a color wheel is, it is a circle with slices of color, starting with the primary colors on the opposite sides of the circle. Then you have a mix of the colors in between the primary. The first mix is the secondary colors such as when you mix red and yellow and get orange. The colors on the opposite sides of the wheel are called complementary colors because they go well together and complement each other, like blue and yellow. I think of our team as the color wheel. Our talents compliment each other.

The Fabulous Fox Theater and Historic Atlanta Catholic Church Serve as a Backdrop to Beautiful Wedding

The Fabulous Fox Theater and Historic Atlanta Catholic Church Serve as a Backdrop to Beautiful Wedding

This week’s wedding will go down in Atlanta Artistic Weddings history as one of the best weddings ever! The couple choose two of the most Iconic wedding venues in Atlanta. They held their ceremony at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, which is one of the oldest catholic churches in the southeast, and their reception took place at the Fabulous Fox Theater!

First, I want to give you a little background on this awesome couple. To know them is to know they love to dance! They are talented competitive ballroom dancers who have even gone to professional dance competitions. A lot of their friends are also competitive dancers. When we met, they explained how important dancing was to them. When you see them dance, their passion for the art form comes alive. You can also see the strong connection they have, since they are so in tune with each other while they dance.
