Engagement Shoot at the Historic Naylor Hall in Roswell Georgia by the Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisitcWeddings

This week’s photo session is at my favorite venue, Naylor Hall.  It was a combination engagement, educational, and promotional session.  Over the years I have become friends with the staff there.  Two of my treasured friends are Cameron and Abbey.  Cameron is working on his video portfolio.  He came up with the idea of shooting his sister Sammie and her fiancé John's engagement session at Naylor Hall.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Naylor Hall Wedding In Historic Roswell

Photography by the Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings

This week’s wedding takes place at my favorite venue in Atlanta, Naylor Hall.  Naylor is in the Roswell historic district, north of metro Atlanta.  The beauty of this venue is only matched by the incredible staff.

AC and Jeremy picked Naylor for their wedding venue.  They loved the location, the venue, and most of all Abbey.  Abbey is the manager of the venue and does a fabulous job.  She brings years of experience and has been mentored by one of the best in the business.

It was a gorgeous day. AC and Jeremy did not want a first look, so they arrived separately.  AC arrived first and went upstairs to the bridal room.   The bridal room at Naylor is the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of the wedding so the bride and bridesmaids can get ready uninterrupted.  There is a separate bathroom and plenty of mirrors and space for the wedding party.

When Jeremy arrived, he went upstairs to the groom’s room with his guys.  They got dressed and isolated themselves from the guests.

When the ladies were ready, I took them downstairs where they were greeted by the bride’s family.  Everyone was so excited to see her in her wedding dress for the first time.  It was a fanback or fishtail cut dress with a medium length train.  I am a fan of these dresses because they look great going down the aisle with the train and can easily be bustled for the reception.  This particular dress required one button to be bustled.

During the photos with the family the bridesmaids patiently waited.  Once done with the family, AC did a few photos with the bridesmaids and then went outside to the front of Naylor Hall for some fun casual shots with the ladies. They were so much fun and were offering support for AC throughout the shoot.  It was getting close to the wedding time, so I took them inside and took a few more photos with the guys.

The ceremony was held in front of Naylor Hall.  The weather cooperated and we had great weather, not too cold and not too hot.  The guests were seated facing the front porch where the minister stood.  The wedding party came out from the side of the venue and walked down the side entrance to the sidewalk.  They lined up behind the large tree in the yard so the guests could not see them. The bride’s grandmother went first then the parents.  The bridesmaids were escorted by the groomsmen and made a half circle around the steps of the porch.  AC’s dad came back and escorted her to the ceremony.  This was the first time Jeremy saw her in her dress.  He became a little emotional seeing her coming towards him.

It was a very short ceremony with prayers and exchanging of rings.  Once they were announced bride and groom the guests cheered and greeted them as husband and wife.  They even stopped during their exit from the ceremony for an extra married kiss.

We did a few photos with the guests and the rest of the family on the porch.  Once done I took the couple out to the front of the house to the sidewalk along Canton Street.  I have never done that before and now I ask myself why? They were a lot of fun and very casual.  I also took some photos of the couple in the hedges out front to break up the usual shots that I do.  It was a lot of fun and gave them some unique photos.

The reception was held in the ballroom where the wedding party was announced.  The couple came in last and went straight into the first dance as husband and wife.  There was the blessing, and they had a delicious dinner served by Naylor’s best caterer. Once dinner was done, they did the parents’ dances and then toasts.  Then it was party time! Hal the DJ cranked up the music and the guests got to the ballroom floor and started to cut a rug. Everyone had a great time. Then like always every party must end.  The guests went outside to line up for the exit.  While they did that AC and Jeremy stayed back and did a private dance with just them.  It was a nice private moment that they could share just between them after a busy wedding day.  Then they went outside where the guests cheered them on as husband and wife.  A perfect ending to a great wedding.

Wedding Photographer Shares Insight to Atlanta Indian Weddings

Wedding Photographer Shares Insight to Atlanta Indian Weddings

This week I am going to cover Indian weddings. As an Atlanta wedding photographer I have had the honor of photographing several Indian weddings and Hindu ceremonies. They are beautiful and intricate weddings. When I shot my first Indian wedding, I had to do a lot of research to know the customs and how to photograph such a busy day.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers capture International Celebration of Love

Atlanta Wedding Photographers capture International Celebration of Love

As a Atlanta Wedding Photographer, this week’s wedding is one that hits close to home.  I have known the bride since she was 10 years old.  Her parents were in my small group at church, so I saw her grow up and graduate college.  Now she is a young woman who found a great guy and is getting married!

Megan and Jaylen met while they were going to Georgia State.  They have been together for about 4 years.  When Jaylen proposed to her she started planning her wedding.  One thing you need to know about Mergan is that she is a planner!  She contacted me about a year and a half ago.  I was so honored to be her Atlanta wedding photographer.

Historic Roswell District an Atlanta Wedding Photographer's Dream

We agreed to meet at Barrington Hall in Roswell at 7:30am at sunrise.  They were real sports!  It started out very chilly and Sarah was wearing a beautiful white sundress that looked great on her but I know it was cold.  Evan and Sarah did not complain one bit!  As the shoot went on they started to appreciate the early morning  start time and the low light that comes when you start to shoot in the morning and get that early morning/sunrise light.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Master the Light

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I think the most rewarding and challenging wedding photography is shooting at night.  You have to be very aware of the ambient light and know how to bring light to a bride or couple.

Blue Hour = Dramatic Wedding Photographs

When I mentioned ambient light that means the existing light.  The existing light can be the light from the room, dj’s lights, or the night sky.  My favorite kind of night sky is the blue hour. It happens about 20 minutes after sunset.  You have to time it perfectly. When you have timed it just right you can have some dramatic results.  You can see that I do that often during my weddings.  You just set up the lights and tap the couple on the shoulder and they step outside for 3 minutes and they have a beautiful dramatic portrait.

The wedding took place at my favorite venue Naylor Hall. I arrived early to get an idea of the layout since Ryan and Kitty changed plans and decided to have the wedding indoors because of the weather.  The pros at Naylor are nimble and resourceful and can adapt to any situation.  I was greeted by Abby who has been working there for years and is Sunny the owner's right hand.  She is such an amazing person who is cool under pressure and shows such grace.  Whenever I (https://www.atlantaartisticweddings.com/) am there I feel like I am coming home to my family.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Wedding at Landmark Restaurant

This week the Atlanta wedding photographers at Atlanta Artistic Weddings captured a family wedding at Rays on the River. It was a relatively small wedding with about 75 family and friends. The couple’s names are E-Kat and Bruce.

The day started at the couple’s home where they raise their family and where they got ready for the big day. E-Kat was getting her hair and makeup done at her home while Bruce helped the kids get ready. They have 3 beautiful daughters and the youngest child is a precious boy about 11 years old. The girls had matching green dresses that were cut the same as their moms wedding dress. They had a draped collar with a sheath cut dress. They looked very tasteful and elegant. The groom and their son wore blue blazers and purple striped ties that matched their boutineers.

Greek Wedding In One Of Atlanta's Historic Churches

As a Atlanta wedding photographer at AtlantaArtisticWeddings I share a blog on weddings I have done. This week’s wedding is Evangeline and Nathen. The wedding took place at one of my favorite churches in Atlanta, the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation. This church hosts the Greek festival every year, where you can get great Greek food and learn about Greek culture.

The Complementary Color Wheel of Talent at Atlanta Artistic Weddings

The Complementary Color Wheel of Talent at Atlanta Artistic Weddings

I am so lucky to be a part of such a talented team. As some of you know I started out in the art field, thus the name Atlanta Artistic Weddings. When you start out in art one of the first things they teach you is the color wheel. If you don’t know what a color wheel is, it is a circle with slices of color, starting with the primary colors on the opposite sides of the circle. Then you have a mix of the colors in between the primary. The first mix is the secondary colors such as when you mix red and yellow and get orange. The colors on the opposite sides of the wheel are called complementary colors because they go well together and complement each other, like blue and yellow. I think of our team as the color wheel. Our talents compliment each other.

Fun Photoshoot At The Atlanta Georgia Temple Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints

Fun Photoshoot At The Atlanta Georgia Temple Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints

This week’s wedding is Giovana and Cameron who finally had their wedding with their family at The Atlanta Georgia Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Cameron met Giovana during his mission trip to Brazil. They had to postpone for a couple of years because of COVID and immigration issues.

Cameron contacted me about two weeks ago with a sort of strange request. He told me that he and Giovana have been married for a few months but they never had a photo shoot or a formal wedding at their Temple. Giovana wanted a few photos of the two of them in a tux and a wedding dress. We made plans to meet early Saturday morning at the Temple before it got too hot.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Beautiful Wedding at Naylor Hall

The Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings captured several details that were very unique and reflected the bride and groom’s personality. The whole ceremony had a rustic cajun sort of vibe. The first thing I noticed were the boutonnieres for the guys which had real bullet casings holding them together. I also loved the simple wooden handmade and engraved ring boxes. The wedding cake had a little detail on it that was so cool! There were strands of pearls hanging from the base of the cake. It turned out these were bracelets for the bridesmaids and at the end were symbolic trinkets that corresponded to cards that told the bridesmaid’s future or personality trait. What I believed was the most thoughtful detail came from the bride. She had these handwritten notes for everyone in her wedding party and family. It reflected how caring and thankful she was to everyone at her wedding.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture A Celebration Two Years In The Making

The ceremony was held inside the chapel. The Atlanta wedding photographers captured a mixed ceremony based on Sri Lanka culture. Sri Lanka is an island south of the Indian mainland. Since it is an island it has a rich history of international trade that influences the many religions that are practiced there. It was a beautiful ceremony. The bridesmaids sang a traditional song and there was even a person playing the conch shell. The couple fed each other and shared the cup of life. The two families exchanged gifts and the ceremony ended with the minister chopping a coconut in half!
